Derived from the name of the Greek goddess HERA combined with the Greek noun μένος (menos) meaning "mind" as well as "spirit" and "power, strength, force".This name was borne by one of the men that conspired with Pausanias of Orestis in his (ultimately successful) plan to assassinate Philip II of Macedon in 336 BC.
