Meaning & History

Derived from the Greek adjective θεόφρων (theophron) meaning "godly-minded". It consists of the Greek noun θεός (theos) meaning "god" combined with the Greek noun φρήν (phren) meaning "midriff" as well as "mind, intellect, wits". Also compare the Greek verb φρονέω (phroneo) meaning "to think" as well as "to be minded".

In Greek mythology, Theophron is the name of one of the suitors of Penelope, the wife of Odysseus.
