The first element of this name is derived from the Greek adjective πειθός (peithos) meaning "persuasive" as well as "obedient", which is ultimately derived from the Greek verb πείθω (peitho) meaning "to persuade, to convince" as well as "to obey, to yield to" and "to believe, to trust (in)". The second element of this name is derived from Greek ἀνδρός (andros) meaning "of a man".
