Possibly derived from Greek φημί (phemi) meaning "to speak, to declare" or φήμη (pheme) meaning "rumour, fame, reputation" combined with νόος (noos) meaning "the mind, thought, perception". This was the name of an ancient Greek poetess and priestess, said to be a daughter of Apollo in mythological traditions.
