Meaning & History

From KONOHA combined with the suffix 丸 (maru) meaning "circle, round," used before the Meiji Period (1868-1912) as a suffix denoting affection (along with -maro (麿/麻呂)) and was given to boys of upper class until they came of age, usually at ages 13 to 17.
This name is used on the character Konohamaru Sarutobi (猿飛 木ノ葉丸) in the 'Naruto' manga and anime series.

This name is not used on real-life people in Japan.
