Anglicized form of DERBFORGAILL used by Lady Gregory in 'Cuchulain of Muirthemne' (1902), her translation of the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. A famous bearer was the mother of John Balliol, an influential heiress in medieval Scotland.
