Meaning & History

The German spelling of Skrållan, used in the German translation of the 1964 Swedish book and TV series "Vi på Saltkråkan" by Astrid Lindgren (published in English as "Seacrow Island").
Skrållan is a fantasy name invented by Lindgren, who is said to have based it on the Swedish word skråla "bawl, bellow, roar".
Skrollan has been occasionally used in Germany since the 1970s.
Note that Skrållan is not used as a name in Scandinavia.
