[Opinions] Beau on a girl
I love the name Beau for a boy, but does anyone else feel that it could work for a girl as well?

There is Bo Dereck, the actress. I don't know if that's short for another name. You could consider the female names Roberta aka Bobbie nn Bo or Bonita or Bonnie for the nn Bo as well.

Bo Derek was born Mary Cathleen Collins......according to IMDB:

Well, Bo's a single standing male name in Denmark. And only that.So I hate it on females, nn or not, since I am used to this male name thing.- Charlie

No!!!Beau is the masculine form of Belle. It's terrible to do that!

Umm... No! Beau's only a male name to me.

I personally would not like it.

For someone else's child, yes ... But I'm sure a native French speaker would find it bizarre, so I'd avoid it myself.

no!Beau is a MALE name! It is not a female name. It's french and means "beautiful" in French. Use the feminine form instead : Belle.

How do you pronounce it? I think it would go for a girl too

I believe the female version is Bo like Bo Derek. It means precious in Chinese

NoBeau is the masculine form of the French word for "beautiful", and therefore is not appropriate for girls in my opinion. Belle, the feminine form, is a much better choice for a girl.

I think its a cute nn for a little girl, but its really not my style for either gender.

Yes. In my country it's often used for both boys and girls. In fact, I know a girl named Beau and it suits her well.

I dislike the name Beau, but I only like it for a boy. It's, I think, horrible for a girl. It's not at all feminine. A "boy-friend" was once called a "beau" in the good ol' days. Plus, I know a dog named Beau (a male dog, by the way).
