[Opinions] Re: Nevaeh
It's funny, I was just thinking about Neveah and let me tell you, I don't like it at all! The adjectives trite, silly and insubstantial all come to mind. Some friends of my husband's and mine have a daughter who is recently married. She's 21 and her husband is 20. They are expecting a little girl in April and they plan to name her Neveah Leigh (heavenly backwards). Their surname begins with a V and the whole effect is dreadful. When the mom-to-be announced the name, I didn't know what to say so I said nothing. My middle child asked me when we got home "Isn't heaven backwards hell?" Exactly my sentiments. What I find odd is that couple is also pronouncing the name with three syllables when heaven only has two. Another thing I don't like about Neveah is that I have to think twice when I write it down (think: heaven backwards). I'm not sure I like the sound of it either.Speaking of backwards, there's a boy at my daughter's school named Tnomal. His father is Lamont. Tnomal is Lamont backwards. Isn't that awful? :-)I hope my comments don't offend. Obviously, those who are drawn to Neveah have the very best intentions. Personally, I think there are much better ways to go about finding a heavenly/celestial name. I have thought of suggesting names to my friend's daughter that have a similar meaning such as Celia, Celina, Celeste, etc., but I don't want to hurt her feelings and she's such a nice person. Besides, it really is none of my business.
