[Opinions] Evadne and Xanthe
My latest Greek name extravaganza has renewed my love for them. Right now, I'm liking Evadne Lenore and Xanthe Maris. Thoughts on the names and/or combo suggestions? Thanks in advance! :)

Don't really like Evadne because I think it looks awkward, and Lenore reminds me of washing powder! On the other hand, I love Xanthe, (and Ianthe, Persephone and Daphne) and Xanthe Maris sounds very pretty. I'm not completely sure on Maris though, because I still have the urge to pronounce it like Marie. How about Xanthe Helen? Or is that a bit OTT on the Greek references?Other suggestions:
Xanthe Jessamine
Xanthe Lilian
Xanthe Melisande
Xanthe RosalindThis is hard! I think I'm going to give up now and just try and convince myself that Maris has an s on the end :p It really is very pretty when I say it right. How are you pronouncing Xanthe by the way? I assumed ZAN-thee.

Yes, that is the way I am prn Xanthe. It would take a lot for me to think a name OTT Greek. :P That being said, for some reason, I am preferring a voiced consonant for the beginning of the MN, so Helen isn't flowing for me.

I've never heard of voiced consonants before, thanks for introducing me to them! I love learning things like this :)

Cool names! I prefer Leonor Evadne to Evadne Lenore. Xanthe Maris = awesome awesome awesome! Sorry, I just went way overkill on that, but I do quite like it.

I love Greek names too. I love Lenore and Xanthe, so if I could combine it would be Lenore Xanthe or Xanthe Lenore.

I like Evadne a lot. We kicked it around for our youngest but went with the more simple Eva instead.Personally, I'm not a fan of names that begin with the end of the alphabet particularly X and Z so as far as Xanthe goes, I already have a bias.

I love them both, especially Evadne. It has such a usable sound, I'm surprised it's so seldom used. In Xanthe's favour, there's something really cool about having an X as your first initial :-)

Xanthe always reminds me of xantham, as in xantham gum. I don't mind it but I can't get away from thinking it sounds like a food additive. Evadne is alright; not my thing, but I can't find much to complain about anyway. :-) I like the middle names. I prefer Eleanor, as Lenore and Lenora sometimes jokingly strike me as Le Nore and Le Nora, but it's still quite pretty. Maris I like considerably more, being into Mary-related names in general.

I've never quite cared for Evadne, I don't like the sound. Lenore is great, simply for Poe in my mind of course.Xanthe is great, I really like it, and Xanthe Maris is a pretty combo : )
