It used to me by favorite Ed- name. I think it sounds tough and romantic, very old fashioned but in a vivid way that some of the flatter-sounding names like Oliver don't really capture. I now prefer Edwin nn Win.

I like it as a middle name. My grandfather was John Edgar (born in 1901).

I love Edgar! It's my favourite Ed name by far. No one I know likes it. Most of them hate it. But I can see it being absolutely adorable on a little boy. It's kind of stuffy, proper...I love names like that on children, their carefree, fun loving spirits completely redefine the name. :)

Its a great name but I prefer other Ed names - Edmund Edwin and Edward

I love it! It's a great alternative to Edward, and I think a bit better than Edmund.

NMSAA; Edgar is way too creepy butler for me. Although, it would be rather refreshing to hear it on a child.

Wonderfully handsome. I currently prefer Edmond, but Edgar used to be a favourite of mind. I think of Poe, too (and J. Edgar Hoover, but let's let that slide, haha).Array

I think of PoeAnd these could have gone together.Edgar is a cool name, but not something I'd use. Maybe as a middle name.
