I like Dae (DAY). The only Danae I know has "Cheerio" for a nn, so I guess that doesn't help much! :)

Danae is so short, does it really need a nn?

I have a step-sister named Nadine but we call her Naenae. I like this nn, and it sounds good on Danae. If you want something more elegant then use the full name.
