Elena is okay if pronounced eh-LAYN-ah.
I love Gemma! I don't care how popular it is. Blame it on Melvin Burgess and his book Smack because I love the name.
Gemma...also a great alternative to the ever-so overused Emma.

I don't really like either of them, but I prefer Gemma. For some reason, I just can't stand the name Elena.

Elena is alright, Gemma I love.

I like Elena (pronounced eh-leh-nah); it's a GP for me. On the other hand, I don't like Gemma at all; it's just nmsaa.

I don't care for either. Elena sounds choppy to me, and I'd prefer Helena or Elaina. Gemma just doesn't feel like a name to me. I can't see an adult named Gemma.

Elena is ok, but more of an "ethnic" name to me. So if a person is not of a certain ethnicity (Spanish, for example) it seems odd to me. I LOVE Gemma, though. :b
