Gretel is far nicer imo. Very cute.:)

Hm...I like both. Greta might be more modern, though. For me, I've always been in love with the spelling Grethe, but that would be difficult living in the US atleast. Looks like "Greeth".

Gretel is adorable. I just cannot see it used past the age of five so I think Greta or Margaret as full names better.

I like Gretel and Greta, but I only like Gretel spelled Gretl bcause it is a family name for me.

I'd stick with Greta.I like Greta (as well as Gretchen, Griet, and Greet) but Gretel is so linked to the fairytale for me that it immediately brings to mind fat, rosy-cheeked German children.

I'm not a huge fan of either name, but I see Gretel as a nickname only, but Greta nn "Gretel" would be fine.

I don't like Gretel very much. Greta is nice though!

Makes me think of Grendel the monster in Beowulf slightly but still a nice name, prefer it to Greta.

I really don't like either, but I prefer Greta over Gretel. Gretel makes me think griddle.

I love Greta but when I hear Gretel, all I can think of is Hansel & Gretel and The Sound of Music.

The only problem I have with Griet is that I live in England, and it doesn't really look or sound very English! I'm not against different sounding names, but I think the pronounciation and spelling may be stumbled upon.
