[Opinions] Dallas?
Do you like Dallas for a boy? I received a call from a man named Dallas the other day, and it reminded me that it was the name of a character in Gone With the Wind.I like it. The problem I have is that I hate the city Dallas, and I'd be afraid I'd think of it every time I called my child. And I wouldn't want anyone to think I named him after the city. If it was a city I liked, I wouldn't mind, but not Dallas TX. But I do like the sound of it.Do you like it?

I don't like the habit of naming children after cities, and this one in particular just reminds me of the soap opera. And I don't think it'd be a great idea to name a child after a city you hate, it should be some place where you have a positive connection (or a neutral one).

I really like Dallas and really like it on a girl but It reminds me so much of The Rock Of Love show because that is the first time I saw that name on a person. Before that it was the city of course

I think it's okay. I don't think I would use it though. I don't have a problem with the city Dallas but because I associate that name with the city so much...I can't imagine using it on a child. I guess in my mind, it's a city, not a name for a person. But of course that's just my opinion and I do realize that is in fact a name.

i once dated a guy named Dallas..well his mn was Dallas and his first was Russell but he went by his mn instead. He was a total jerk and really into himself so i'm not fond of the name.

I love Dallas. It's definitely a GP of mine. In fact, I was just pondering the other day whether I'd actually ever use it. Probably not -- it doesn't mesh well with the names of my other children. BTW, I ran into a man named Texas the other day. :-)

I do like the name for a boy, but it reminds me too much of the city, as well. :(

I knew a guy named Dallas, and he was a good person. I liked him, but I don't much care for the name.

Reminds me of The Outsiders. I like it.

Ditto about the Outsiders...It's pretty cool, I think, and I do like it. But I don't like it enough to use it myself.I prefer it to Austin, which is a bummer since Austin is a family name.

I know a man named Dallas and his son is also named Dallas. I never met the son, but the father bore a distinct resemblance to the walrus from The Walrus and the Caroenter out of Alice in Wonderland. http://members.tripod.com/lcw1980/alice047.jpgThat is all I think about when I hear the name. He was a nice man, but the walrus is too much for me. I also think it has kind of lispy sound to it.

I know a girl and a boy named Dallas. I do not really like the name, but I must say that it sounds much better on a boy than a girl. The name reminds me of a cowboy. It does have a nice sound, but I do not like that it is the name of a big city. I do not remember a Dallas in Gone with the Wind. Where was this character in the movie?

The character did not make it into the movie, as he was a minor character. He appeared only in the book. He was Dallas McClure, the darling of his two older spinster sisters, Faith and Hope McClure. He was killed in the Battle of Gettysburg.

Oh ok. I was confused because I really like the movie, but I had never heard of the character before.
