It's Hawaiian. My old babysitter has a daughter with this name, and it's also the name of Barack Obama's daughter.

MAH-lee-ah. I think it's Hawaiian but I'm not sure. I think it's in the Hawaiian top 100 (you can check it here: http://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/namesbystate.cgi).
