[Opinions] Kira
I'm starting to like Kira (KEE-ra) for a girl. What do you think of it? The thing I really dislike is that there are at least 5 ways to spell Kira that I can think of. I mean, yeah, you could even spell Emma as Emmah but the thing with Kira's various spellings is that they all seem to be somewhat popular (think Katelyn). So far I've seen Kira, Keira, Kiera, Ciara and Keera but I know it doesn't end there. I definitely like Kira best but also fear that it could be pronounced like Kyra (which I pronounce KY-ra). I also fear that it has a very trendy feel to it. So far I've met two Keiras, a Ciara, a Kyra (KY-ra) and a Kira.1. What do you think of Kira?2. Do you think it's too trendy and will sound dated in a few years? Is it one of those names that isn't really popular but feels so trendy because it's close to popular names such as Kayla? 3. Will people mispronounce it as KY-ra all the time? How would you pronounce it?4. How would you spell it if you wanted it pronounced the way I do, KEE-ra?5. Do you know anyone named KEE-ra? How do they spell it? How old are they and do you happen to know their middle names?6. Do you think it will rise in popularity? top 100?

1. What do you think of Kira? I love it, maybe because I love The Dark Crystal and Kira's character.2. Do you think it's too trendy and will sound dated in a few years? Is it one of those names that isn't really popular but feels so trendy because it's close to popular names such as Kayla? I don't think its too trendy. I agree that it's probably one of those that just seem trendy... It's a shame. :[3. Will people mispronounce it as KY-ra all the time? How would you pronounce it? Maybe. It wouldn't bother me though; I prefer the prn. KY-ra. I would probably pronounce Kira, Keira, Keera, etc. KEER-a, and Kyra KY-ra.4. How would you spell it if you wanted it pronounced the way I do, KEE-ra? Erm, I'm not sure. I guess we're prnouncing it differently, aren't we? KEE-ra I would probably spell Kira or Keera.5. Do you know anyone named KEE-ra? How do they spell it? How old are they and do you happen to know their middle names? I know a KEER-a. It's spelled Keira, and she's about one or two years old. Not sure what her middle name is.6. Do you think it will rise in popularity? top 100? Yeah, it will probably rise a bit, but I don't know if that far.

[drools]I ADORE Kira. So much. Ooh yes.1. EXCELLENT. Beautiful, usable, simple, classy, somewhat unique at the moment2. might get trendy, but I'd predict the Keira spelling after Ms. Knightley. I think it sounds trendier than it is.3. Kira probably won't be mispronounced. I agree, Kyra has the "eye" sound in the first syllable, but Kira is KEE-ra.4. Kira, Keira, Kiera5. I know a Kira. She's 18 or 19, tall, brunette, violinist. I don't know her middle name, but her last name could work as a MN (Lee).6. Yes, and yes. It's short and sweet, which is what a lot of parents look for (despite all evidence to the contrary).BTW, Ciara is usually see-AIR-uh. I've met at least two of these and one Ceara. I've never heard it pronounced KEE-rah.

Kira is a gorgeous name. Kira looks like KEE-ra to me, not KY-ra. I definitely prefer it with this spelling; I don't care for Keira and Kiera. Ciara is fine, but in the U.S., I'm sure it would be mispronounced quite often. I personally don't know any Kiras. I don't think it's too trendy, but I really hope that it doesn't become too popular.

1. What do you think of Kira?I like Kira a lot. Ciara/Keira/Kiera is not related to Kira, though. Kira is the Russian feminine form of Kirill, and Ciara is the Irish feminine form of Ciar.2. Do you think it's too trendy and will sound dated in a few years? Is it one of those names that isn't really popular but feels so trendy because it's close to popular names such as Kayla?I think Kira is trendy, but still a classic name, unlike Kayla.3. Will people mispronounce it as KY-ra all the time? How would you pronounce it?I think most people would pronounce it KEER-a.4. How would you spell it if you wanted it pronounced the way I do, KEE-ra?I would spell it Kira for the Russian name, and Kiera for the Irish name.5. Do you know anyone named KEE-ra? How do they spell it? How old are they and do you happen to know their middle names?I know a Kira (age 7), a Kiera (age 9), and a Keira (age 1).6. Do you think it will rise in popularity? top 100?If you combine Kira with the other spellings, it is already in the top 100, at 71. 1. It's okay, I'm not really into most K names-they seem trendy, cutesy, and low class to me (I know that's not true that's just the impression I get) Katelyn, Kayla, Kaylee, Kylie, Kacey, Kaylinn, Kallie, Kyla, Kyra, Kara, Kassie...so many cutesy K names! They are all so similar, they don't really stand out in the crowd. 2. Not as bad as say Kaylie or Kaylinn...but a little along those lines. Kira is not as bad. I like it a little more...it's more classy.3. I don't think they will pronounce it like Kyra.4. I would stick with Kira.5. I've only known of one: Keira -a little baby6. It's not all that popular I don't think. Kaylie, Kayla, Kylie ect overshadow it...overall Kira is not bad. I like it better than the other K names...it's not nearly as common.

1. I love Kira and always have. It's a gorgeous name!2. I don't think it's too trendy, especially with that spelling. It seems to be that the spellings with e's in them feel trendier. I'm just one person, but the only Kira I know is 22, so she predates any recent rend.3. I think it will be mispronounced occasionally, but it's pretty safe.4. I would definitely spell it Kira. I think it will get misspelled more often than mispronounced (as Keira/Kiera instead of Kira) or else Kira will just have to spell her name for people more often than others would. 5. Kira (KEE-ra), 22. I also know a Ciara (kee-AH-ra), also 22.6. Likely to rise in popularity somewhat, but not too much.

1. What do you think of Kira? It's cute. 2. Do you think it's too trendy and will sound dated in a few years? Is it one of those names that isn't really popular but feels so trendy because it's close to popular names such as Kayla? I think so, yes. 3. Will people mispronounce it as KY-ra all the time? How would you pronounce it? I think it is one of those name you have to tell people up front, which way you want it said. I would have pronounced it KEAR rah. 4. How would you spell it if you wanted it pronounced the way I do, KEE-ra? Keera... still it will get mispronounced. Keyra is phonetically straight forward, but not as cute. 5. Do you know anyone named KEE-ra? How do they spell it? How old are they and do you happen to know their middle names? No, I know a Kira pronounced KEAR ah. 6. Do you think it will rise in popularity? top 100? Not sure.

1. What do you think of Kira?
I like it, I have a cousin called Ciara who often gets her name mispronounced as Ci-AR-a.2. Do you think it's too trendy and will sound dated in a few years? Is it one of those names that isn't really popular but feels so trendy because it's close to popular names such as Kayla?
I don't think Kira is trendy at all, I think it'll be a round for a while too, thanks to Keira Knightley.3. Will people mispronounce it as KY-ra all the time? How would you pronounce it?
I pronounce Kira like KEE-ra, I think there may be a few who pronounce it Ky-ra but they can be easily corrected :)4. How would you spell it if you wanted it pronounced the way I do, KEE-ra?
I would probably spell it Keira to avoid the Ky-ra pronunciation and because I personally think this looks best after Ciara (But this would have pronunciation problems than Kira, probably)5. Do you know anyone named KEE-ra? How do they spell it? How old are they and do you happen to know their middle names?
I know two, a Ciara and a Kiera. One is 13 and one is 18. I'm unsure of their middle names.6. Do you think it will rise in popularity? top 100?
Probably. Like I said Keira Knightley will have a lot to do with it :)
I do like Kira though :)
