I'm a Melissa :) I think it can be used and I don't see it as dated at all. I know a few Melissa's most of them are under 20 though. Personally I go by Mel, Melly or sometimes Milly.
I think Melissa is an alright name, I get complimented on it quite a bit. I'd go for Melissa over Melisa though.
I can't really say it'll rise again, not for a while anyway, but I don't think its gone for good :)
