[Opinions] Juliet
What do you think of Juliet for a girl? Is it too tied to the Shakespeare play? Do you think it's usable or would she get "where's Romeo?" comments all her life?Do you prefer Juliet or Juliette? Why? Do you pronounce them differently?Did you ever meet someone named Juliet or Juliette? Did they get teased?Do you think it has the potential to become really popular? Not discovered by celebs just yet.

I adore Juliet and have considered it myself. The Romeo thing has given me pause and let's face it, it's the obvious association. But when you think about it, if hearing "Where's Romeo?" is the worst thing people can say, then that's not so bad. ;-)I prefer Juliet with my surname. Juliette doesn't look as pleasant to me. I only pronounce Juliette the French way if I see it paired with a known French surname (ex., Juliette Binoche).I've never known a Juliet although one of my friends has a neighbor by the name. Needless to say, it's very fresh in my mind. I don't feel it'll become too popular.

I love Juliet! When I was a kid I didn't like it so much (preferred Julie or Julia, but they weren't my favorites either) but it has definitely grown on me since then.Yes, it makes me think of the play, but I love the play, so that's fine with me. She might get a few Romeo comments, but I don't think it would be too much.I like either spelling. Probably for an English speaking child I'd choose Juliet though because Juliette feels very French.I know one Juliet (age 17). I don't know if she every got teased. She has a younger brother Jonah, which wasn't one of your questions, but I think Juliet and Jonah make a cute sibset. I also went to high school with a Juliet (age 22 now) but I didn't actually know her...Yes, I think I could easily become very popular.

I was going to post on this! ♥I keep finding that with your posts. You always seem to post on a name that I am thinking a lot about at that particular time!I love the name, but I cannot decide if I prefer Juliet or Juliette. It used to be the latter, but I think I am leaning more towards Juliet at the moment. I have concerns about a child getting the teasings over Romeo too unfortunately. I have only met one Juliette, a French exchange student when I was 13, and that is when I first fell in love with the name. I don't think she got teased about her name as far as I know.

I think Juliet is all right. Not one of my favourites, though. I don't think of "Romeo and Juliet" immediately because I grew up with "Romeo and Julia", but she might get a few comments. I think the risk of that is far higher with a boy called Romeo, however.I prefer Juliette. Juliet seems so wrong to me. I guess I'd pronounce Juliet the English way always and ask a Juliette if it's pronounced French or English.I met two Juliettes, but don't know if they got teased. I didn't know them that well, but I think not.I do think it will get somewhat popular.

I love Juliet!
I have a friend called Juliet we call her Etta :)
She doesn't get teased, and never has, only by her brothers LOL

It's a bit cutesy but it's fine to use. It's common enough to be separated from the play, it's not like, say, Desdemona or Ophelia.
She might get Romeo jokes but it's not a big deal. I like Juliet better as a spelling.

Because I'm a dork...Whereas once I would have thought Shakespeare when I heard Juliet, I now first think of Juliet from Lost and it makes me like the name more. Haha. But yeah, I think she will get Romeo comments from kids, but I don't think that's something that would ruin one's childhood. I think Juliet is a pretty and sophisticated name. I can't really see it on a little girl though... maybe she'd have to be called Julie or Ettie. Which is adorable!I think I prefer Juliet, but I do like the pronunciation joo-lee-ET, which is how I'd say Juliette. Juliet I'd pronounce JOO-lee-et. So maybe I prefer Juliette. I'm not really sure!I know one Juliet. She lives in the apartment across the hall. She's in her mid-20's, I'd guess. I've never asked her if she got teased as a kid though.I could see Juliet becoming more popular. I know Julia is still popular, and Juliet has the same sort of feel as some popular names like Isabella. At least I think it does.

I love Juliet/Juliette. I prefer it spelled Juliette because that is how I saw it first, before I had ever read Romeo and Juliet. I pronounce them the same. My sister's friend has a baby named Emma Lee Juliette. She's only 6 but has yet to be teased for her middle name. I think it is already becoming more popular.
