[Opinions] Margaret
I've always thought Margaret was a bit of an old lady name, until recently I'm finding myself liking it. Especially with the nickname Maggie. What are your opinions on Margaret nn Maggie? :)

Margaret is a timeless name. I really like it. I prefer Daisy as a nn.

I love Margaret. It's a strong, stately, feminine name. And I like that it has so many nickname options.I like/love plenty of them, but that doesn't include Maggie. In fact, I really dislike Maggie. I can't put my finger on why I dislike it as much I do, though.A few of my favorite ones for Margaret are Meg, Mae/May, Maret, Maisie, Greta, and Daisy.

As I'm sure everyone around here knows, Margaret is like my favorite name ever and has been for years. I've never thought of it as an old lady name, really. It's such a beautiful name. I love the way it looks, and it sounds very sophisticated to me. I can picture it on almost any type of person, but mainly it makes me think of a girl who is nice and friendly, smart, athletic, creative, musical, scientific... pretty much successful at everything she does. And I really like the meaning too. And it's so classic, has history and some nice namesakes... I could rave about it for several more paragraphs, I'm sure. :)And Maggie also happens to be my favorite nickname for it! I think it's so sweet and adorable and perfect for a little girl, although I can see it being used informally on a teenager, adult, and elderly person too.We plan to name our first daughter Margaret nn Maggie. So you can see, I'm a bit partial to it. :)

I've never thought of Margaret as an old lady name. To me it is like Elizabeth or Catherine, classic and works on people of all ages. And indeed, I do know Margarets of every age. I think it's a lovely name. I like Maggie all right, but my favorite NN is Greta, which is what my niece named Margaret is called.
