It's not just the Biblical story, it's the actual sound. I find the same thing with Lola. Almost 'erotic' in sound. It's silly but I cannot help it.

I love the way Delilah looks. I love the 'lee' pronunciation (rather than the 'lie' one). I knew a girl in school named Delilah. She was cool and she's one of the few people I've never fogotten, mainly because of her name. Would I use it? Sadly, no, because I can't separate it from the Biblical story. OTOH, why shouldn't people use it? There are other popular names derived from Biblical stories that are sad or end badly. It doesn't mean those names aren't beautiful. And the more people use Delilah, the stigma will vanish, somewhat.

I never liked it to begin with, but the song just pummeled it into the "hate zone" for me. It's always made me think of a real bimbo of a girl who doesn't think of anything deep.

I like it a lot, although I am rather fond of "D" names. I like Delilah Pearl as a combination.

I like the sound of it, but I dont like the meaning and especially the story in the Bible. Its completely unusable to me because of the story. I can see why people would want to use it though.

I love it. I think its one of the prettiest Biblical names. I find the majority of the Biblical names drab and unappealing, but this has a darling sound. I can never use it myself, as I am too afraid of the Samson & Delilah connotations but I love it on other people.

I think I know which song you're talking about, and I like it.
Not the name, though. Scary. That was the name of the girl in the Bible who betrayed Samson by cutting off all of his hair which was the source of his strength. Also, it's one of those few more- traditional names that I don't think are very classy...kind of like Chloe or Zoe, both of which, like Delilah, are almost obscure biblical names that were used by the Puritans when they didn't use character traits to name their kids.

I can't stand that song. I used to like the name, but now it's blech to me.

I like it quite a bit. A little too frilly for my tastes but it was my absolute favourite for some time when I was little and so it always will be a special name to me. None of the associations bother me and I like the possible nicknames for it.

I've always liked it. It sounds very beautiful, and I don't care about the associations. I do prefer Dalilah (dah-lee-lah), though. She's character one of the "One Thousand and One Nights" stories.

I've always liked it. Several women throughout my family have been named Delilah. It was, also, rather popular with the Puritans. I had two cats growing up, one named Samson, and the other Delilah.

It sounds like a faded Southern belle to me, like Blanche Du Bois. It's all right, I guess.
