[Opinions] WDYT of Martha?
I love the name Martha. I think it's beautiful, and it's a family name. Any combos? So far, I've got Martha Beatrice and Martha Ann Rebecca.
I also like that it's so traditional, and the fact that it's Aramaic for lady, and I read somewhere that around the time of Jesus, Martha was a women's title indicating that they could own property.

I love Martha, and love playing around with it's nicknames. I actually know two Marthas, an elder lady who goes by Marty, and a little girl who goes by Marley. Marta would be cute too.I love both Martha Beatrice and Martha Ann Rebecca, I think Martha Ann Rebecca is so very well rounded and pretty. My Martha combo is Martha Augusta.

I like...
Martha Primrose
Martha Madeleine
Martha Claire
Martha Eleanor.
I'd probably not use Martha Eleanor, though (even though it's my fave on the list) because I'm saving Eleanor for a fn (perhaps with the mn Frances).

Martha Beatrice is so refreshing. I like it and I'd love to see a baby named that. The only problem I have with Martha is its horrible Russian form - when I saw it, I couldn't un-see it. But the English Martha is very very nice. I had a really cool teacher named that, too, so I associate it with her. With Beatrice, I think of Much Ado About Nothing, and Shakespeare associations are always good (well, except maybe Iago...)

It's too old-fashioned for my taste, but I still have a bit of a soft spot for it. Maybe because it sounds like the name of a sweet, intelligent girl who wants everyone to be happy. I guess I would never use it myself, but I would admire someone else who did.

Hmm...I guess you're right about who it would fit. Probably because it sounds nice. I guess it's kind of like the name Adelaide in that case...I can just see Adelaide on a bouncy little girl with red hair and an infinite smile. Same with Miranda, although that's because I have a friend who fits that cheerful, bouncy description with that name.
