I love Fern...very 1930s. It also reminds me of one of the characters on Arthur.

Guess I'm the oddball here because I don't like Fern at all...it seems frumpy and unattractive to me.

I love it

I like it. I think it's underused.

I love it, and have a hard time deciding if I like Fern or Ivy more. I think it's really cute and sweet.

Very niceFern and Fiona are a GP sibset of mine. They both seem simple and sweet-natured to me. And ILJ makes a great point--what a nice alternative to some of the more popular flower names.

LovelyIt was my great-grandmother's middle name. It's so gentle and a soft green and makes me think of plants (obviously).

I love itI knew a few girls named Fern when I was growing up, and I think it's very sweet. I'm not sure if I'd use it as a first name but it's definitely on my potentials list.

I wouldn't use it, but I think it's lovely.

heh. I like it, much to my surprise. I find myself making all these combos with it.I guess I'm warming up to the sound. It has such a nice strong feel to it, you know? I used to think the sound was dumb and I'm over it now. Besides, ferns are really cool plants.

Dont like it personally but would be a nice alternative to Lily, Rose or Violet

My great-grandmother was named Fern Mary, so it has a good family association to me. She was a twin.

If I'm not being too intrusive, what was her twin's name?
vote up1
It isn't intrusive. Laverne (probably Laverne Mary).Yeah. She also had two other brothers who were also twins named Milton and Mayron, and then sisters Geraldine, Freda and Alice. There were two or three other brothers whose names I cannot remember right now.

While I have a hard time with rhyming names on twins, the names themselves are lovely. I quite like Freda and Alice as well.

Thanks. Freda is sort of cute.

I like it. It makes me think of Charlotte's Web, which was one of my favorites as a kid.
