I fell in love with the name Carolyn. I know many still think it's dated but I think it sounds fresh and new again and I like it much better than Caroline. I also like how it's uncommon.
Do you know anyone named Carolyn? Anyone who's under 30?
Do you think it could make a comeback?
Do you pronounce Caroline to rhyme with wine or do you pronounce it like Carolyn? Just worried that people often pronounce it like Carolyn which would make the name more common than I thought.

I love it!!! It's one of my favorite names... and I pronounce Caroline sometimes the same as Carolyn, and sometimes CAR-o-line or KERR-o-line... But I prefer Carolyn, and I don't consider it dated. I think it sounds very young, actually. I don't know anyone with this name, but that's probably because I live in Croatia :) Karolyn is OK, but I still prefer Carolyn

I know one Carolyn, an over-60! And Carolines of all ages. I don't see it rising again somehow, even given the huge popularity of the letter y.
I've never heard Caroline pronounced like Carolyn; not in English anyway. Rhymes with wine every time.

I know a few Carolyns. I can think of two that I went to high school with (so they're now in their early 20s) and one who went to a daycare where I worked in high school who is now 6 or 7.
I don't perceive Carolyn as having declined into obscurity despite being #678. I'd guess it's just been replaced by Caroline.

I do know a Carolyn under 30. She's my age, 25 or 26.
With ultra-classic names making a comeback (things like Alice, Henry, Charlotte, Matilda, etc) I don't think Carolyn-era names (50's, 60's and 70's) are due to make their return quite yet. Maybe in another generation. But, if you use it now, maybe you'll be one of the trendsetters :)

I know a Carolyn and a Carolin (German). Both are teenagers. Both are constantly called Caroline by people that are too stupid to know the difference. I hate the name Carolyn, though. I'm sorry. I do like Carol, Caroline, and Carolanne (which I've heard used once). If I had to choose a spelling, I'd go with Carolin personally, though many people read that as Caroline by mistake. I think lyn/lynn is very dated in most names. I'm not crazy about the spelling Karolyn, but it would work in Germany I think. I've never heard of people pronouncing Caroline like Carolyn. That would be extremely confusing.
