[Opinions] WDYTO Briar?
I've been reading a lot of fairy tales lately and once again fell in love with the name Briar (from Briar Rose, aka Sleeping Beauty). Last time I fell in love with it, it was on a male fictional character. I can't decide which way I like it better.
Do you think it sounds more feminine or masculine on its own? Do you like it in general? Why/why not?
ETA: Also, any combos?

Unusable here in South Africa, because what the rest of the English-speaking world knows as a barbeque we call a braai, which sounds far too close to Briar!
In general, I wouldn't use it for either. Like Ivy, it's a really annoying plant! Also, I imagine it would lead to a lifetime of explanations that, no, it wasn't Brian (m) or Bryony (f). Tedious.

I like it on a girl, it's pretty.
Briar has always felt feminine to me because it was the original name of Sleeping Beauty, hence is why I find it a bit silly on a boy.
I like the name Briar for a little girl. I think it's because I, too, associate the name with the Disney princess. Why not Aurora if you're sticking to the Disney theme lol :P ?
Yeah, it was, in the Grimm brothers version. I don't remember if they included it in the Disney version.
That's interesting. I thought the people who had Briar on their girls' lists were pulling it out of nowhere. :P
