[Opinions] Carly
What do you think of Carly for a girl? I was really surprised to see it never made the top 100. I thought it was really common but obviously it's not.Do you know anyone named Carly? How do they spell it? How old are they? What is your preferred spelling?

Other than Carly Simon, I think I've known of only one Carly. She is the daughter of a co-worker, in her mid-20s.Sorry, but I really dislike Carly, regardless of how it is spelled. It seems so childish that I can't see it aging well.My co-worker's other daughter (no sons) is Kelsey. Carly and Kelsey.

I know two or three people named Carly, around my age (16). They are all spelled Carly. That's my preferred spelling, mostly because it's easier for people to spell.
I also know one Carlin, but as far as I know she's never gone by Carli or anything.

Carly is an okay name, but it's very juvenile. I would give her a more grown-up name to fall back on.I know one Carly. She's the 13-year-old daughter of a co-worker, and she spells it Karli. I hate the spelling; so ugly.

I've only known one Carly my entire life. She's 21 and I grew up with her. She was popular, a tomboy, and smart.I don't care for the name, personally. It just sounds too harsh to me and not very feminine. But to each their own!

I don't like it. I think it's too nicknamey, too little girly, and doesn't "age" well.
Apart from Carly Simon the only actual Carly I've heard of (apart from the name in lists) is Carly Smithson in "American Idol" a few years ago.
I much prefer Carla.

I think it's an okay name. It's not something I would use, but I don't mind it. I'm sure that if all of the spellings were added together, Carly would have made the top 100 at some point.Off the top of my head, I know that I have met a Carlie and a Karli. Carlie is probably about 16 now, and Karli is now in her early 20s.

Carly's too cutesy for me. I much prefer names such as Carla, Caroline and Charlotte. I'm slightly surprised where it's at (197), as I thought it would be ranked about 120-150. Still, I knew it would be a Top 200 name. I knew one Carly years ago from when I did dance. I believe they spelled it as Carly, and I estimate that they are between 14-16 years old.

I don't know anyone called Carly, or Carla for that matter.Carly is quite pretty, but too girly for me, but Carly is the best spelling IMO.

I know two Carly's and two Karly's. Both Carly's are 21, one Karly is 22, and the other is 23 or 24. I also know a Carla (she'd be 23 or 24, too). I'm pretty surprised that Carly never broke the top 100, too, though I suppose it's just that it has so many possible spellings that no one spelling ever made into the top 100.I'm not a huge fan of Carly, in spite of the fact that three of the four I know were nice, smart girls, and I don't have a terrible association with the other. I dunno, it always makes me think of an airhead cheerleader, in spite of the fact that I've never met an airhead named Carly or a cheerleader named Carly.I think I prefer the spelling Karly, actually.
