Its' pretty usual where I live, so I'd expect just another kid. Probably known as Chris, but not necessarily.I don't think it sounds even slightly fem, any more than Sebastian does. But, I had two great-grandmothers called Christiana, presumably as a nod to John Bunyan. 'Pilgrim's Progress' provides a male Christian with a worthy namesake too.

I'm just wondering here, if you think Christian and Sebastian are too similar for brothers?I have a son named Cristian and I'd love to use Sebastian if we had another son (we have two other sons also btw).Your comment just made me wonder. :)

Cris and Seb? Not a problem. Cristian and Sebastian? Not a problem either; more of a theme or even a coincidence. The only thing you couldn't do would be to nickname one or both of them Tian.I know a Rosalind who was about ten when her sister was born and named Rosemary. Their parents apologised for what they knew would lead to confusion, but pointed out that Rosemary had been born on their wedding anniversary: "Here's Rosemary; that's for remembrance: pray, love, remember". And in fact, she said, it hardly mattered and people hardly noticed. So if they could get away with the stressed syllables, you can surely manage the unstressed!

I really LOVE it! I think it's very handsome and all boy! I think of my son. He is happy, outgoing and adorable! Of course I'm biased. ;)

I've always found it odd some people find Christian feminine-sounding, for me it's 100% male. Christiane and Christiana are for girls.Christian's ok, though not my style. For some reason, it conveys a very blond boy, I can't really imagine a dark-haired Christian.

It's funny you mentioned that. All our children have dark hair and eyes. Our Cristian was born with Dark eyes but the big surprise was, he was born with light sandy brown hair. It's darkening now, but it's still a lot lighter then his siblings hair.

It's a boy name.

Definitely a male name, the feminine forms Christiane and Christiana are absolutely gorgeous and are some of my favourites names.Christian is a good strong name for man, and I like. I know a little boy named Christian and although he is a naughty boy... it hasn't tainted the name for me at all.

Ick. I don't think it sounds girly at all but I hate it as a name. Its way too religiously tied. Like it is all well and good that the kid's parents are a Christian, but what if the kid grows up and is an atheist or a Buddhist? It'd be pretty ironic. I'm just a tad bit touchy about this being a kid that grew up in a super Christian family and became an atheist. I would absolutely hate it if my name was Christian.Anyway, that's my rant. The image I get is just a really religious one...don't really have a particular image of what a boy named Christian should look like.

I love, love Christian-for a boy only. My son has two new friends in Kindergarten named Christian and they are both adorable with fun personalities. Handsome name!

It doesn't sound girly at all, to me it's like naming your son Emma or something.
I like Christian a lot. :)

Hans Christian Anderson comes to mind. 100% boy.

Christian is definitely a boy's name to me, no matter how allegedly girly it may sound. I have seen a female Christian on TV and it wasn't that bad, though. I can't say it brings any particular image to mind, but I've always thought of it as a refreshing alternative to the overused Christopher.

Christian is a strictly masculine name in all languages traditionally using this name. Where I live it is very common. I think it's an ok name but I'd never use it.

I personally don't like Christian.
I mean, biblical names are fine. But religion names are just annoying, in my opinion.
