[Opinions] Alyssa
ALYSSA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: ə-LIS-ə [key] Variant of ALICIA. The spelling has probably been influenced by that of the alyssum flower, the name of which is derived from Greek á "against" combined with ëõóóá (lyssa) "madness, rabies", since it was believed to cure madness. What do you think?

not my fave... it's a nice sounding name but it isn't really interesting enough for me.

I like it. I used to think it was too popular, but everyone I know named Alyssa is a good association, so I do like it. I like it more than Alicia. I think it's elegant without being at all pretentious. The meaning is a bit odd though..

I really dislike it. It's so prissy and wimpy and... blech. And I really dislike -issa names.

It's pretty, but too popular for me to consider using.
