[Opinions] Elijah
Ever since I found out I have an ancestor named Elijah, with a twin named Josiah, I have loved the name Elijah. I wanted to get some opinions on Elijah, and also the combo Benjamin Elijah. Elijah would replace Arthur in my list, because Arthur is the only name on my list at the moment that doesn't honor an ancestor.

I was crazy for this name (along with Jonah) when I was 16 or so, I thought it was just divine. So soft and gentle-sounding, and I paid no heed to the Bible connections whatsoever. As I've grown older I find that it's become a little flat as well as overzealous sounding - like Llewella said, a little bit "Bible-trendy". I certainly would not feel comfortable using it now and would expect the family of an Elijah to be very religious in a glossy, crazy-eyed born again kind of way.BUT it is still a beautiful name. I honestly don't think Benjamin Elijah flows well, though - or maybe it fows TOO well: it makes me feel like I have apple sauce dripping out of my mouth, it's a slurry of similar sounds. I actually think Arthur Elijah sounds kick-butt though. In this case the religious background of Elijah lends a wonderful kind of New-World pioneer fervour to the name - he sounds like a hardworking young man with good stable morals from a line of Pilgrims. Benjamin Elijah sounds very much contemporary and yuppie to me.I'm on team Arthur Elijah!

I personally do not care for Elijah. It sounds quite harsh to my ears and its one of my least favorite of the trendy biblical names. I do love Eli though, very handsome and sweet. Benjamin Elijah is a nice combo, but I would prefer Benjamin Arthur.

Ehh. It's not a bad name. It's solid and Biblical. But it has a somewhat trendy feel, and it feels a little whiny to me. I don't dislike it, but I'm not a huge fan.Benjamin Elijah is a little Biblical heavy, I think. I otherwise don't feel qualified to judge that combo well because Benjamin is my son's name and Elijah is my nephew's name and so it's odd to see them stuck together like that. I think Benjamin Arthur has a much nicer sound, look, and feel.

I recently found out that there have been many Elijahs on my father's side dating back to the 1700s. The most recent was my ggf, William Elijah. There's certainly nothing wrong with Elijah.Benjamin Elijah is okay but I prefer the flow of Benjamin Arthur.

I have an Elijah and I think it is a very cool name. (We don't call him Eli for short or anything.) I think Benjamin Elijah sounds good. Be warned that Elijah is pretty popular on the name lists right now, though.
