[Opinions] Paris (for a boy)
This name was my #1 favorite for a couple years in my early teens, and I've realized lately how much I still love it. BUT there are problems. First of all, my current #1 favorite is Frank, and I think Paris and Frank (sounds like France) are too close for brothers--even if that is a pretty far-off hypothetical. Second problem is that Paris from the Iliad was a total turd. Third problem is that Paris is probably far better known as a girl's name these days. Would you assume a Paris Lastname was a girl? Would you look on it as an act of parental cruelty?So...thoughts? Combos? (Paris can be either the fn or the mn). I was never able to come up with a middle name I thought suited Paris particuarly well, so I'm starting with a blank state.

It is a GP of mine, as a boy's name. I wouldn't assume that Paris was a girl, but maybe because I would hoping that it was a boy. I actually like it bcause of Paris in the movie Troy.

I love it, but honestly, I'm not sure if I would use it.
It's gorgeous, but if I used it, I'd probably make it a middle name because as charming as it may be, children can be cruel and they're not going to care that it's a mythical classic.
I certainly wouldn't let Paris and Frank be a combo or siblings.

Paris is a good name for a parasite and nothing else.

Since Paris is a place name, it could be used on a boy...but I prefer it on a girl. Of course, there was a character named Paris in "Romeo & Juliet" who was male, but he was kind of a dork. I don't know, I don't recommend it for anyone, really.

Paris is definitely a girl's name for me, in spite of its mythological associations, and yeah, it would be borderline parental cruelty to name a boy Paris. I wouldn't even use it as a mn to tell the truth.

First of all, Paris is a great name for a boy so don't give it up! Frank is okay but a little... :-( It makes me think of 'Frank' on MASH... Francis is MUCH better, in my opinion :-). I'm of French heritage but I see the point you make and even Paris Francis sounds silly but what about 'Paris Orleans?' It's very French but I like the combo. Here are a few more, though.Paris Alexandre

Could go either way I suppose, but I think Paris Hilton has caused it to be associated w/ girls.

I wouldn't let the Illiad association throw you off. I really like the name Ursula, despite the sea-witch association, for example. To be honest, if I saw Paris Lastname, my first thought would be a girl. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's "parental cruelty". Maybe use Paris as a MN instead.

I much prefer Paris for a boy. But sadly, because of Ms Hilton, I'd say Paris belongs in the mn spot for a boy. I was happy to see that her short engagement to a Greek Paris made it clear to all that it is not exclusively a female / place name. Frank ___ and Tudor Paris

I adore the name for Paris for a boy! It's so much nicer than Paris for a girl! I would think Paris Lastname was a girl because it's so much more popular for a girl than a boy but I would be hoping it was a little boy. Frank I think would be too masculine sounding for Paris.Ideas:
