To me, yesGabriel = GAY-bree-el

I think in some places they are not (I know many Spanish and French speaking people say them the same). But here in the U.S., I've always seen Gabriel, for boys, as GAY-bree-uhl, and Gabrielle, for girls, as gab-ree-ELL. Oddly enough, I love Gabriel but dislike Gabrielle (though Gabriela is slightly better imo).

I pronounce them differentlyIn Sweden, Gabriel is pronounced as "GAH-bree-ell" and Gabrielle is pronounced as "Gah-bree-ELL". So the stress is put differently."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

I prn Gabriel with the emphasis on Gabe as in GABE-ree-uhl if that makes sense. Gabrielle is Gab as rhymes with drab and Gab-ree-elle. I don't know if I'm typing my phonetics correctly, but basically, I think there is a big difference, yes.

Gabriel is pronounced Gay-bree-el, whereas Gabrielle is pronounced Gab-bree-el.The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.

In French, I believe they're pronounced relatively the same way. In Hebrew, Gavriel (boy form) and Gavriela (girl form) are pronounced the same way, except for the "A" in Gavriela. :)_____
