[Opinions] Magda
Just heard Magda on Law and Order last night.
I've known about the name for years, but hearing them say it made it feel different to me.Thoughts on Magda?
For a real person? For a character?

I like it.

It's a very harsh name, like the kind of name a cold, unpleasant, older woman would have. It would be fine for that sort of character.

It's a favorite. Most people will suggest using it as a nn for Magdalene, but I prefer it as a full name. It's lovely, underused and has a neat history.

It's a bit nicknamey but a nice name overall.

I like it. I used to know a women in her 30s, she'd be in her mid 40s now called Magda and she was lovely

I always think of that nasty old lady in the movie There's Something About Mary. I will forever associate the name Magda with that! LOL Magdalene actually isn't that bad in my opinion, however. I met a little girl named Magdalene, and she went by the nn Maggie. I thought it was sort of pretty.

I think it's totally adorable! I like it on its own or as a nn. Funny enough, what made me like it more was hearing it on the cartoon Martha Speaks.

I like it a lot, but only as a nn and only if short for Magdalen. Which I like a lot too - but Magdalene, Magdalina etc make my toes curl up in dismay. As long as you avoid Mary, it'd be fine on a real person; if you don't, it would result in religious stereotyping before she was a week old. For a character: great!

I like it, but I can only envision it on someone old (well, not "old" exactly... maybe 34 and up?) I definitely know what sort of character I'd use it on. If I met one in real life I'd probably be able to expand the 'paradigm'.
