[Opinions] Meredith
I have recently fallen in love with the name Meredith and I think that Merry would make a really pretty nn. What do you think? The name doesn't fall into either of my usual catagories (Scottish / Biblical) but it is so beautiful and not overused. Unfortunately as soon as I told my dh he reminded me of Burgess Meredith (Penguin from the old Batman series) so he's not so sure.

I love Meredith, and I virtually never see it here, which is great. I'm not a fan of Merry though. It sounds rather Lord-of-the-Rings-ish, and those names always strike me as very geeky._____________________________________________________________________Elinor"I couldn't imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah."

I love Meredith! I really hate Merry, though, sorry.

I like Meredith a lot. Merry is a nice nickname, but with Meredith, I don't think you need one.Don't you hate it when dh's "can't" use a name because of some movie. Dh says no way to Elliott because of 1980's movie starring John Cusak. Drives me bonkers!

Dh wont allow Elliott because of ET

Meredith is a fantastic name that, in my opinion, has stood the test of time. It is strong, yet feminine. A beautiful name any girl/woman should be proud to bear.

I really like the name Meredith. I think it is a beautiful name that is not overused or trendy sounding. Of course the nn Merry is very pretty. When I was thinking of the name Meredith recently and how much I like it, I was wondering about the nn Meredi, Merdi (pronounced Mare-a-dee or Mare-dee). I definitely think you should use it. What middle names?

I've really come to think that Meredith is one of the prettiest names around and Merry is just a darling nickname! It's not exactly Scottish but with the nickname Merry (Mary) it does border on Bibical! I think it's too close not to use. As for the penguin bit, that doesn't even enter most people's head unless they are devoted Batman fans so I wouldn't even put it down as a factor here unless you or he are! :)
