WDYT of Liberty? Is it too cheesy? I kind of like it because it is the name of one of the main streets in one of my favourite places. Is Libertas, like the Roman goddess, better?

I like it, it's not cheesy. Certain people might bring out some cheesiness in it, but the name itself is awesome. I think Libertas might be cheesy.

Where I live, Libertas is the name of a wine estate ... and its produce. Not good. Liberty does seem very cheesy, I'm afraid, and naming humans after streets is fraught with peril - look what happened with Madison.

Roman goddess trumps that association, which I don't think is that negative anyway. I agree that Liberty is definitely cheesy, but the street has so much meaning to me, and meaningfulness trumps cheesiness. Plus, Madison Ave was named after a person, James Madison, before Splash ever existed.

I like it best as a middle name. As a first name, it is too cheesy in my opinion. Libertas is pretty cool.

Libertas doesn't really do it for me, but Liberty is lovely I think. I've known a Liberty Elisabeth and a Liberty Claire.

I think Liberty is great. I can actually see it working well for a child and an adult. Libby makes a nice nn if needed. Libertas is not pretty at all imo, sorry.

As a word, I don't think it's too cheesy. It's not like Lily-Rose, or something of that nature.

What I do not like about it is the middle syllable. It's very unattractive sounding to me.

I know two girls with the name Liberty. Both get called Libby instead. I can.'t say that I like Libertas at all.

I know two girls named Liberty. One is about 6 and the other almost 40. I kind of like it. If it's too much she can always shorten it to Libby. And no, Libertas is kind of weird. Liberty works better as a name.

Aside from me not really liking the name, it always reminds me of DeGrassi lol.

I used to love the show Degrassi, mostly because it was filmed at my university.
