[Opinions] Cole
This is one of my favorite boy names. WDYT? Too plain?

I had a friend who named her son Cole in 2006. I found it kind of funny because Cole, combined with her surname, sounded so so so much like the hero of a horrible romance novel. Naturally, I don't want to divulge her surname, but trust me, it does.I don't think it's plain, no. But it's not a big favorite of mine, because it makes me think of coal, Nat King Cole, and Old King Cole. I don't know---it just sounds like the word "coal." Or someone with a cold saying "cold." "I have a really bad cole." Just not a big fan.

I don't think it's too plain. I love it! It reminds me of a sweet and thoughtful little boy. It's a name I wouldn't mind hearing a little more often.

Not plain at all. It's handsome. I think one-syllable names pack a surprising punch--a lot of energy in a small package--and Cole is no exception to that.

It's one of my favorites! I also like it as a nn for Colton or Nicholas.

I loathe it inexplicably. It seems like a void of happiness and beauty. Even Coal would be better....
not to be, you know, histrionic about it. lol

It's ok, but kinda boring. That said, I think I prefer it to some of the other trends.

It's not a favorite of mine. I find it rather boring, which is quite weird since I've never met one (being a Swede and all). I think I would prefer it as a nickname, for example Nicholas, Colton etc.

I like Cole a lot. Probably not enough to use but it is very handsome. It actually works quite nicely with some long fns...I'm thinking along the lines of Phinneas Cole or Leonidas Cole

Naw, I don't mind it at all. Simple and versatile. I can see Cole studying in a university library. Or canoeing in the woods for a week. I know a Cole (age 12) whose brother is Caden (he's 10ish so it was a bit before the boom of -adens)
And I know a Cole (age 30ish) whose brothers are Drew and Brock. I don't really like Brock, but I like the one-syllable theme of this sibset. And Drew and Cole are awesome together!

I like Cole a lot. It's probably one of my favorite monosyllabic boy names. :)
