[Opinions] Re: Raven
in reply to a message by Lily
I liked it, too, when I was younger. I've met a few Ravens, two of whom were male. Now? Not so much. It's very juvenile. It's one of those goth-y names people like when they're 12. Twins Raven and Robin would be way too much. I can appreciate the sound and the Poe connection (movie notwithstanding) but I could never bring myself to use it. Even in a story. It's just so middle school. Also, it's one of those names emo kids seem to really like. "My name isn't Megan, it's Raven now." Just my experience with it, of course.

Yeah, I was worried people might think I was an emo kid :P I never was, I actually always loved pink and horses and stuff. Hmmm I wonder whether that makes it unusable. I always just heard of emos (is it mean to call them that?) who named their daughters Lilith. It always seems to be Lilith

I don't know if it's mean to call them that.... but they are emos so why not? I call hispters a hispter when I see 'em!I was going to mention Lilith, too. Raven and Lilith are hand-in-hand to me. They're dark but feminine. I always imagine some hack wannabe writer creating a vampire story with either sexy vampire Lilith and/or sexy vampire Raven running around doing sexy vampire things. Makes me barf. lol

Hahaha I'm so sick of vampires. I don't like Twilight and lately they've been showing a lot of vampire stuff on TV, True Blood and Vampire Diaries. Ugh not a fan. Reminds me of my friend who was a huge fan of Buffy when we were little and she'd leave the window open every night so that a vampire could come and take her with him :P

I'm not a vampire fan. I am a huge Buffy fan though. But Buffy predates all this new vampire hoopla. If she were a true Buffy fan, she'd leave the window open to kill vampires. Not expect to be whisked away with one!! lol

hahaha I think she wanted Angel to come. The one who had his own spin off series. At least there was a huge poster of him in the bathtub in her room :P Yeah Buffy was wayyyy before the whole vampire trend.

Oh, I know Angel. So broody and boring. If I had to get kidnapped by a vampire, I'd say Spike. He was at least fun! lol

Mmm, Spike. Yeah, I'd want to get kidnapped by Spike. I'd just stake Angel. He was so annoying. Haha.

So broody and serious all the time! Spike made me laugh. But Angel was just all heavy brow and "we can't be together!!!!!!!!!" ugh.

I know right. So annoying! Spike was great. He was hilarious, but he also had a more serious, loving side to him, especially after he regained his soul.Yes, I am a serious Buffy nerd. XD

Oh, me, too. Huge Buffy nerd. I own all the seasons. And of Angel, too, although I'm less enthusiastic about that show. I used to make my mom watch it (I came home from school and it was showing on FX--I was only allowed to watch 1 hr of tv a day so that's what i'd choose)! She still says she hates the show but I swear she got into it. And she adored Spike. She has a thing for bad boys, though. She liked Jess with Rory and Weevil with Veronica. I make my mom watch a lot of my things, I'm realizing in hindsight. Ah, I blame it on the fact we had one tv and it was in the living room, which doubled as her bedroom. The only time I didn't like Spike is when they made him too devoted to Buffy. I liked him with spine. I really like him and Dru together because they were such a mess.Oh, lordy. Stopping now before this becomes a 20-page paper about my thoughts on Buffy!! lol
