[Opinions] Eunice
I think Eunice is really charming and has a nice meaning. What do you think? Too dated?

NooooooooooIt's hideous. Like, the kind of name people use when they're thinking of a joke name. That kind of hideous.

Sorry, but all I can think of is the murderer from Ruth Rendell's chilling novel Judgement in Stone.

...Higgins. Or Chantilly.Eunice Higgins was from "Mama's Family", and Eunice Chantilly was from "The Cosby Show." Can't hear the name without thinking of one or both characters, though we never saw Eunice Chantilly (she was Cliff's high school sweetheart, before Claire.)

Higgins!I mentioned that Eunice too. I could not remember her last name for the life of me. That family was so dysfunctional. I don't know why I loved that show so much. As a seventh grader. Haha!

I loved it because the family was dysfunctional. It was refreshing to see in the 80's, when every other sitcom was gooey-sweet and taught you a lesson.

You know, that's probably why I liked it too. Mama was the absolute best though. Even as young as I was when I was watching it (and they were all reruns; I was too young to see the originals), I was like, "How can x, y, or z be so dumb?" Vicki Lawrence is a very talented woman.

Eunice is one of a small body of names that I find really, really, unforgivably ugly. I don't think it has anything going for it and I personally can't stand it. But each to their own, eh?

Eunice has kind of a double whammy against it-- Eu- names are really "out" right now (Euphemia, Eudora, Eudocia), and so are -is names (Doris, Avis, Mavis, Ardis etc.) However, like everything else except possibly Hortence, Eunice will sound fine in a decade or so. I had a stuffed unicorn named Unice when I was a kid, so I associate the name with that-- I kind of like it!

This is one of my absolute least favorite names. It's not even so much that it's dated, I just hate the sound and the connotations I have with it. All I can think of is the really obnoxious, selfish daughter from Mama's Family.I just don't like it. It does have a nice meaning though.

I don't think it's dated since I've never heard of any called it, besides the Biblical character. Though it does seem quite old fashioned, as well as not very attractive to my ears. Prefer Eurydice.

It's quite pleasant. The first time I encountered it I thought it ugly but it's grown on me since.I don't consider it dated as I've only ever met 2 Eunices that were both my own age. The popularity charts do seem to suggest otherwise though...

I'm quite sure that I'm in the minority, but I like the name Eunice. It just looks and sounds pretty to me.

I'm sorry, I don't like it. It seems to me that when there is a character in a movie or show named Eunice she's always the ugly weird nerdy socially awkward chick. However, if you like it, use it. If you just like the meaning, there are plenty of other names that mean victory.

I really dislike it. I think it is very unfortunate sounding.
