I love Amalia and it has been one of my favorites for years. I've always been worried with the idea of using it as a first name and constantly being mistaken for Amelia.

Oh Amalia is very nice I think! I also agree with the "mealy" sound being unappealing. Amalia is a good, pretty idea! Much more sophisticated but still sweet!

I like Amalia, I much prefer it to Amelia.

I like it in theory but if I'm being honest with myself it sounds like a disease.
