[Opinions] Lucy vs. Louise
Which is your preference (and maybe why)? Louisa is not an option here.

I really don't like either, but if I had to choose then Louise. Lucy is just so whiny and childish.

Lucy is one of my all-time top faves, so that was easy. Lucy shimmers and dances but can also roll up her sleeves and make a three-course meal while cleaning the kitchen.Louise is nice. Louisa isn't! But I'd only use Louise, if at all, as a mn because that emphasised eez ending really doesn't appeal. And I also like Eloise ...

I prefer Lucy. Louise reminds me of the word "wheeze."

Lucy definitely. It's always been a fave of mine. I just find it sweet, yet spunky and imo it's suits a female of any age.

Lucy has always been a favorite of mine. I would have had a daughter from like 2008-2010, she would have been Lucy. Its such a fun, spunky, pretty name. But, its gaining popularity quick, at least here in the US. I like Louise. Its quirky and cool. I think a baby Louise would be so adorable! Its close for me but realistically, I would choose Lucy if I was naming a daughter for myself but Louise probably if I was choosing for someone else.

Lucy. I like a lot of names related to Lucy, too. I picked it over Louise because of the meaning and because synesthetically it's a prettier color for me.

I adore Lucy; sound/visual; the way I can see it as youthful and sweet or bright, confident and take-charge, so it ages well for me; and the meaning appeals to me also.I respect Louise and think it's a perfectly nice name, but I don't really care for the sound; it's not the "ise" itself, as I enjoy Eloise, but the sound and blend of the "ou" into the "ise" that my ear doesn't enjoy and also reminds me of "wheeze".

Lucy. It has a dreamy and whimsical feel to it compared to the no-nonsense Louise. Both, I would use. Lucille was my great-grandmother's name and Louise is my grandmother's middle name.

I prefer Louise because it's richer and brassier than Lucy.

Louise. I just plan old don't like Lucy. Not sure what it is about it exactly, I just can't stand the name. It sounds whiny and childish. Louise on the other hand I find sweet and elegant, a bit prissy but I kind of like prissy so that's ok.

Louise, I say reluctantly. Both the LOOSEY and looEEZ sounds are a discomfort to my ears, but Lucy sounds loud and sloppy, while Louise sounds enervated but tidy, so it seems easier to control my impatience with Louise. I could like Lewisa (loo WISS a) or Louissa or something like that, that didn't have that WEEZ sound. Sorry

I prefer Lucy. It sounds sweeter in my opinion; also, Louise has been used so much as a mn that I'm bored of it now.:0)

Sooo hard. Okay.IRL, I'd go with Louise. I love it. Louise is strong, smart, and elegant--it's a "little black dress and a knowing smile" sort of name. It's classic, unexpected, and has the added benefit of not being my step-children's dog's name. Just going by my preferences alone, I pick Lucy. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I'm always going to love it, even if I could never use it.

I like Louise more because it would be a much fresher choice these days, but if I had to use one in real life, I might pick Lucy, because one of my very good friends is named Louise. I'd be ok with Lucy Louise as a combo though!

Louise, hands down. At least it sounds grown-up and not like somebody's poodle.

I think I'd go with Lucy. I actually kind of prefer Louise as it's not as overused but I couldn't live with people pronouncing it loo-WEEZ and that's a pretty common pronunciation. I always say loo-EEZ. I much prefer Lucille over Lucy.

Louise. It's more elegant and grown up, while Lucy sounds more cute and childish (I prefer Lucia).

Lucy, not sure why, I don't love it but I like it better than Louise. Though I prefer Lucia to Lucy and Louisa to Louise. :)

Lucy.not sure why, sorry! Just like it.

I far prefer Louise.
It sounds (and looks) more like an adult, but at the same time it's a great name for a little girl.
Lucy on the other hand, sounds more childish and nicknamey. I could see a Louise with the nickname Lucy. That way, you can use both. ;-)

Really not to keen on either name, but if i had to choose, i'd go with Louise.I'd prefer Lucinda and Eloise.

Lucy. I just like the sound of Lucy over Louise, though I have to say that Louise is a nice name, too. I used to dislike it, but my love for Louise Brooks changed the image of the name for me.
