[Opinions] Penelope
People seem to love or hate this name, with very little in between. Where do you stand? Do you like the NN Penny? I do, so anyone who doesn't is wrong. Just wanna get that out of the way. :P

Haha.
That being said, it's kind of dropped off from my #1 in the last couple of years since the Kardashians got hold of it and stuff. I still love it to bits though. I love the full name as it's so fun to say and Penny is adorable and spunky. My favourite nickname for it is Nella though.

I like it, but I feel like it's becoming way too popular.
I really like the name Penny :D It sounds sweet to me
Haha.
Well, I do like the name itself. It's quirky and unexpected. I was honestly surprised when it jumped in popularity.
I am biased on this name, since it belongs to my niece, who DOES go by Penny.
My sister has planned on using this name since we were 7 years old or something. She was ecstatic when her husband agreed to it, and a year later it boomed.
None of us liked the nickname Penny and she planned to use Penna. I also know a couple of other Penelope girls who go by either Nell or Nellie.
However, my niece herself prefers Penny, she was adamant about it as soon as she could verbalize. So, Penny it is! And, what a cute name I (now) think it is. :)

I was very tempted to name our second daughter Penelope, nn Penny. At birth she looked remarkably like her father's cousin of that name, and still does. I wouldn't ever consider using Penny as an independent name - Penelope is just too good to sideline - but they're both cheerful names that make me think of pleasant, energetic people (which Cousin Penny actually isn't, but so what?).
I used to like it, then one of the Kardashians used it and that put me off it a bit. It's also getting quite popular in the UK.
I guess I'm wrong because I can't stand the nickname Penny :P Ever since I was a kid watching The Pround Family on Disney I thought it was terrible >.<
I used to really hate Penelope, and I do still dislike it, but I don't hate it anymore. I don't don't know what it is, the name just annoys me. I would rather see it used over trendy names, though.

I like it, I wouldn't say I love it, though.
I'm rather in-between on Penelope, myself. It's pretty and nice to look at, but I'd never use it. I think I'd like it better if it weren't so popular. I always feel a little...mm, "envious" of it, I guess, because there are so many Greek myth names that I like better than it, but they can't seem to touch it in popularity and get called "weird" while no one bats an eye at Penelope. Ho-hum.
I also think I'd like it better if I could connect it more with the character in The Odyssey, but the translation of the book I read spelt it Penelopeia, so there's not even much of a mythological connection in my mind.
I do love Penny as a nickname, however (though I prefer Nell).

I love it, with a qualifier. I love it for other people. Penny is a great nickname that I've loved since my childhood of watching Inspector Gadget cartoons.
I hate it for one reason only---the final syllable. The PEE at the end kills it. But Penny is adorable.
