I've considered it before, and I like it. It's my moms birth month so it feels like a nod to her. I've also toyed with the idea of using it as a NN for something like Mary Charles (both family names for me) or Marjorie (also a fam name). I have Margaux Chance on a long list somewhere too

I actually think it's one of the month names that makes the most sense. Think of all the Marc- names out there that come from the same origin! Mark, Marcus, Marcella, etc.

I think March would be cool on a boy. It sounds too strong/harsh for a girl.

More familiar with it as a male name. I wouldn't use it. Kids march all the time and I would laugh if I heard March march

Well, I wouldn't want it to be MY name, but it could be cool on someone else. I would admire the parent who had the chutzpah to name their daughter March, just cuz.

Honestly I think it could work as a middle name for a boy.

With apologies to my own associations with the word march and the drippy gray month, which are significant associations IMO and should make me say NAY ... I kinda like it. In the sense that I'd like it on someone else, as long as I liked them; and I'd like to be named it. Not in the sense that I'd use it for anything. I never read LW and I consider that connection to be yet another negative thing, though less so.

I think every month works okay as a name; February and March are my least favorite, though.

March for a girl does make me think of Little Women, but it also brings to mind the word "marsh".

Used for a boy, it does sound to me like a command to "March!"

And, some people might joke "In like a lion, out like a lamb" like it's some kind of comment on March's character; that would annoy me.

My dad's birthday is Mar. 4... and I used to think that March Forth would be a cool boy's name that was oddball but not too crazy, and would reference dear old Pa.

It's ok on a girl, but I love choices like June and May so much that I feel like we should give this one to the guys.

And Little Women, aka Little Mary Sues, is not a positive association for me.

If I heard it, or even saw it, I'd assume it was a nn for Marcello, or indeed Marcella. Which is actually better than the month connection IMO, but then I don't like month or day names much. The exception - and another nod to LW - is May.

I also think March would be sweet on a girl because of the Little Women reference. That being said, for the other reasons you mentioned I would likely only use it as a middle name.

I think any month can be used as a name, but January and December sound much nicer than March.
