[Opinions] Linda
Do you like Linda? I think it has a really nice sound. Still too dated or ready for a comeback? What do you think of Lynda and similar names Belinda and Melinda? If you had to choose between Linda, Belinda and Melinda which one would you choose and why?

Linda is my older sister's name. It's not ready for a comeback, and it's impossible to predict which names will come back and which will not. So it may or it may not ever come back.Sometimes I think Linda sounds glamorous and pretty, and I can see what was once so appealing about it to so many, and other times I think it's heavy and a little clunky. My sister went through a brief stage when she was a teenager of spelling her name Lynda. I don't really care for that spelling, just seems to fall into the "Y is feminine" mindset.I like Melinda the best of the three names. (Melinda is my stepmother's name, though she never ever goes by it.) Belinda is a lot more clunky than Melinda, Linda is a little more clunky than Melinda, Melinda is just sweet and pretty.

Linda rocksBelinda - is beautiful: i.e. the beautiful & wise Babylonian Goddess. I may prefer the spelling BeLinda to emphasize how the first syllable announces or pronounces the future continuity of this essence. Need we spell this out? Perhaps, if for reverence, then yes. I also love the Germanic root, Betlindis.

I also like the sound and the look of Linda. I think it probably needs about another ten years before it makes its comeback.Lynda is just plain ugly; no doubt it started as an attempt to set its owner apart from all the Linda people, but now there's no call for that.Melinda seems flabby and lacking in personality, and it shortens to Millie which is a big no-no.Belinda on the other hand has got energy and bounce. I'd use it before Linda, and I wouldn't use Melinda if I had as many children as a herring.

I want to like it. The meaning is nice, but it's too dated for me.

Hi !!!Linda is quite common here in Italy.I dislike it because it seems too childish or very very 1950s...too much. Also in Italian it is a used word means 'neat, clean'...Melinda and Belinda are awful imo. My definitive choise is Linda even if I dislike it.Byeeeeee

I think Linda is very pretty, very light and feminine but not at all fussy. Some would say it is dated, and if you go by numbers it is, but I also think Ella and Lillian are dated even though the numbers tell us different.I like Belinda all right too, but my favorite is Melinda. I have a good friend named Melinda Erin.
