I like Kaya; the 'i' is almost too pretty to me. I remember someone asked this question a long time ago, about what the difference in impression was. Someone said Kaya looked more "natural," and I've always leaned toward that spelling for that reason. I taught a girl named Kaia and, though it's a unique and pretty name, it didn't fit her. One thing I've learned about short, pretty, simple names is that, for me, they wear out quickly; the sparkle dulls after repeating it a few million times a day. (Which is unfortunate because, prior to teaching, those were my favorite kinds of names.)

I find it mildly amusing. Where I live, in many local languages Kaia means "house" or, more particularly, either shack or (worse!) outhouse as in, small brick building separate from the main building which houses a fly-infested toilet and is typically dark and smelly. This used to be abbreviated to PK (for picanini kaia = tiny toilet) and applied to any bathroom etc, but I think this no longer happens.I suppose Kaya would sound different: Kay rhyming with day, play etc whereas Kaia = KIEa.

Kaia is cute and spunky, though nmsaa. I associate Kaya with the Native American American Girl character. (What a horrendous sentence.) Kaia on the other hand gives me a Baltic/Eastern European feel when seen. But since it sounds the same, hearing it would give the same impression as Kaya.

It's a bit dated-trendy for me. It was right in there with all the Kayla, Keely, Kenzie, etc. names.

I like Kaia! It's not on my name list or anything (I might think about adding it) but I think it's snappy and sweet and it gives me a Scandicool vibe. Kaya is more trendy American/British to me.

I like Kaia.
Kaya confuses me because I tend to read Kay- as the beginning of Kayla. So it seems more trendy-style and less striking. But I've never met one. I think I could get used to it, if I did meet one, and it would seem about like Kaia.

I don't love it but I do like it. Reminds me of Cindy Crawford's daughter, Kaia Gerber.I like both spelling, but probably Kaia more.I also think it'd make a cute dog name.

I pronounce them differently. Kaya is KAY-a, Kaia is KYE-a.

Hi !!!!I quite dislike Kaia.
I much prefer Kasia, Karina (Polish/Russian) or Kitty (English) as diminutive of Katharina.Kaya is African imo while Kaia a strange and modern English variant.
