I like Dara or Darya. Darya doesn't look like diarhea either.

I knew a female Dara who pronounced it like "dare" plus an A, but I think I prefer it for a guy and pronounced Da-ra.I like Daria (I'd say Da-ree-ah) more than Dara for a girl but would prefer Darya (I'd say Dar-ya) over both.

I strongly dislike both, although I can't put my finger on why. I pronounce them DAH-ra and DAHR-ya.

I prefer Daria, probably only because I'm used to it due to the character. By comparison, Dara feels like it's missing something. I'd pronounce both with the first syllable rhyming with "car".

I prefer Daria, but I think it's too close to the word "diarrhea", so if I had to use one, it would be Dara.

Yes, exactly. And it's a shame, really, because Daria is quite pretty. I know a woman who was called "Leah, Leah, diarrhea" so I can imagine what someone named Daria would put up with. The name is just so similar in sound to diarrhea, unfortunately.

ditto both of youIn fact, it's one letter off from the way nine-year-old me spelled "diarrhea" (diaria). lol

I slightly prefer Dara. I usually say the first A like the A in dare - because I knew a Dara whose name was said like that. I still like the name, though, if it's like the A in car.
The first A in Daria is like the A in car. I like Daria, too.

I like Dara. It's nice to see a male name with an 'a' ending. I pronounce it the same as Darren (which I hate) without the 'n'Not so keen on Daria

I prefer Dara because of the meaning. I’m not sure how to pronounce it; I think with a long A?

I like both...tough choice. Today I think I prefer Dara (DAH-ra, and Daria is DAH-ree-a).

Hi !!!!It is quite simple: I pronounce Dara as DAH-ra and Daria as DAH-rya.I much prefer Dara.
It means 'star' in khmer and 'wealthy' in Persian.Daria instead seems only a feminine for Dario.
