I say it vie-OH-luh. I don't care for it, personally I hate the "ola" sound in names.

I'd go with VIE-ə-lə. I heard it that way once when I was a kid and liked it.

It reminds me of Violet and Ursula but seems more delicate. There's something about it that irritates me, though; it's like beautiful itchy lace.

I haven't heard vie-O-luh before. It sounds like a blend of of VIE-uh-luh (my fav, always been a fan of Twelfth Night ;) this is how I'm writing it, though I think it might be the same as your VIE-o-luh, I just don't pronounce the 'o' very rounded so that's why I spelled it like that) and the instrument vee-O-luh (which I don't like on a person), but I definitely like it better than the latter.

I pronounce Viola VYO-la.
It is very popular for babies here nowadays.

VIE uh luh is the only pronunciation I've come across on people (as opposed to musical instruments) - like Violet, only with an uh instead of an et.

I don't like it enough to use, but it's an okay name: a little classier and more unusual than Violet, but still very much part of the WW1 revival trend, so I can see it getting more popular.

ALWAYS luv that name !!! I would definitely wanna be called ... V-oh-lah. .. Not Vi-O-lah .. altho Violet is pretty too.. V-oh-lah is colorful & cheerful sounding to me! :)

First instinct "vee/o/la: /ee/ = /ee/ in free - with the accent on the letter /o/; is your recent switch to VIE/o/la with a long /I/ (as in smile) sound - with accent on that long /i/ sound??

I am uncertain which I prefer. However, sometimes a new pronunciation, any new change of something I've always thought fixed &/or standard is better - and refreshing.

I love Viola as Vee-OH-luh, but of the two you mentioned, I would instinctively say Vy-OH-luh. As much as I love Viola, I only like it the way I say it, and that seems to be the least popular choice, so I can see it maybe causing some confusion. In general, I think it’s a gorgeous name, strong and energetic. I’m not at all surprised it’s moved into the England/Wales top 1000.

I'd say vee-OH-la. Kinda the same vowel pattern as Fiona.
I'd learn VIE-o-la easily because it's like Violet.
vie-O-la sounds wrong to me.
It's too much the name of a musical instrument for me to really like it but otherwise it's pretty and nice.

I say vee-oh-luh.
