I adore Miranda and have since I was a teenager. I first saw it/heard of it as the main character in an old novel, "Dragonwyck" by Anya Seton.

Mariah is okay. I like it much more than I do Maria, that's for sure.

I wouldn't personally use it, but I love Mariah. There's something delicate and ephemeral (maybe whimsical? but pleasantly familiar) about it; I think of a seaside for some reason. I used to primarily associate Mariah with Carey, but I don't really anymore (not that I think the Mariah Carey association is bad - she wrote/sings one of my fav songs, actually - but my perspective of it is broader now).

I don't like Moriah. It reminds me of Moria from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I've seen more than one church called Moriah (insert denomination) Church, so the vibe seems closer to Zion than Maria.

I get the feeling Miranda is like Rosalind. She could be utterly ordinary or fabulous and tough as nails, I don't really know, but I like it well enough. It's plausibly something my mother would have picked out, and I probably would've liked being named it or thought it was a cool name for a sister, if she had.

I like Miranda, ok is Mariah

Miranda has been one of my favorite names for many years - since high school, I think. Rarely is it not in the Top 10. I can't even tell you where I first heard the name - I didn't even meet one in real life until last year, and she spelled her name Myranda (I vastly prefer the usual spelling). Maybe I just saw it in print enough and thought it looked and sounded unique. But I love Miranda.

Mariah is a decent name - and, I believe, reflective of the nineteenth (and previous?) century's pronunciation of the name Maria (now almost always mah-REE-ah... and I apologize if I just put West Side Story in everybody's heads). Perfectly suitable for everyday. I knew a Moriah in high school - also a nice name, but she had her name constantly misspelled as Mariah.

I prefer Mariah. I don't think of Carey. I have a friend who has a daughter named Mariah, and that's who I think of. She's gorgeous.

Miranda: lovely and Shakespearean, it makes me think of summer fruits and freckles. It used to be my favourite feminine name, and it's still in my top list. I've never heard of Miranda Hobbes.
Mariah: too Carey, I prefer Maria. However, Mariah is nicer than Moriah - the latter looks somewhat villainous.

I've never liked Miranda, it makes me think of a sour-faced know-it-all even though I don't think I've ever met a Miranda face to face.
I like Mariah much better. I prefer Maria, but Mariah is pretty. I don't think it's totally associated with mariah Carey even though it did get popular alobng with her.
