A name that become popular all of a sudden and now seems to have largely been forgotten (even though it is still being used I feel like no one ever talks about it anymore).
What do you think of Nevaeh?
I actually think it looks nice and sounds pretty but I don't care for its etymology and it has a bit of a tacky image. Would you agree?

I can't get on board the whole "backwards name" trend, but on top of that Nevaeh has always reminded me of the brand Nivea, and then the smell of cold cream.

I never minded this name, I feel like most people just jumped on the bandwagon with their hate for it.
I think it has a pretty sound and the spelling doesn’t look bad if you were to pretend it’s not “heaven spelled backwards.”
I don’t care for it’s etymology either but I don’t even see this name as particularly tacky, it’s just a popular trendy name.

I can see the appeal of Nevaeh and I don't mind the "heaven spelled backwards" meaning. I wouldn't choose it myself but I don't hate it either.

I think it sounds pretty when it’s pronounced like “neh-vay-eh”, but it’s really clunky looking. Side note: even though I work with kids, I don’t know a single one named Nevaeh.

It's tacky, but like you said, the SOUND of it is perfectly fine. It's actually very pretty. I wouldn't cringe if I met a Nevaeh, I could get past the tackiness. I don't think it's the most tragic name, ever. Bad namenerd? lol

I don't understand the name-reversal phenomenon. Why not just opt for Heaven? What does spelling it backwards accomplish or represent? I do derive some perverse pleasure from the notion that reversing the name negates its meaning--Nevaeh conjures hell rather than heaven.

I don't think it sounds tacky, rather, it's cute for a middle name. How is it pronounced?

I don’t think it looks good and all I can think of is Nivea skincare. But at least Nivea isn’t awkward looking like Nevaeh. It doesn’t sound like a human name to me.

The sound it alright, but I dislike the look of it (the aeh part) and I dislike the whole idea to spell a word backwards and suddenly it's a name.

Most of the members here object to made-up names. When it's pointed out to them that all names were created, or made-up, at some point in the past, then they say that established names were created based upon established words, and that's the difference.
Yet Nevaeh was created based upon an established word, yet still the objection.

It has a pretty sound but a very tacky vibe. It’s still rising here. I know someone who has a baby named Nevaeh-Nova.

I've always thought it was pronounced nuh vay yuh and I have to admit that I find the sound of it kind of pretty. However, the fact that it's heaven spelled backwards is nauseating and cancels out anything pretty about it for me.

Me too, I think that's the most common pronunciation. I have heard nuh-VAY a few times, though.

I think it is adorable but I also feel like it's reserved for those highly religious people who want all their kids' named Grace, Hope, Faith, Angel, etc. and then you have the twins Heaven + Nevaeh...

I'll go ahead and admit I'm one of the people who hate it. The dude from POD decides to spell heaven backwards and give it to his daughter and people followed suit. I've met two, both born around that time. It just seems so juvenile and tacky. Like something a preteen girl gives her Barbie doll thinking it's unique and pretty.

I've never been able to hate it the way some others here do. I do agree with your last sentence, with a caveat about the etymology: It would be an issue for me personally that it's "heaven" backwards, but that's just me.

I don't like the look of it, and since I've never met one or heard the name used, I don't know how to pronounce it (or how people pronounce it). Hard to comment, therefore; it does seem ephemeral.

I have a student aged 12 called Nevaeh. I honestly thought it would be Ne-VAY-a

You mean, like Navarre? Spanish geography? Well, well. I know a man in his early 30s with no Spanish background at all whose given name is Navarre, and with a totally non-Spanish ln it seems odd. But Nevaeh = Navarre is odder!

No lie, I've actually always thought Navarre would be a cool name, every since I heard it on Rutger Hauer's character in Ladyhawke (though IIRC, he's called Navarre because that's his family name / where he's from, not his Christian name).

I’m just going to look out for the stones coming my way, but I too think it looks nice and has a pretty sound. There is a bit of a tacky, lower class vibe to it, but I’m not really sure why? Is it because it had a lot of use in lower socioeconomic areas? I don’t know, but it is pretty, yes.
