Cecilia has the correct vowels to me. I think of the Italian pronunciation. Cecelia is also sort of endearing also in an older lady sot of way. I don't dislike either.

I think it has something to do with the difference in the pronunciation between the Danish (my native) and the English ways. We practically pronounce the second 'e' in Cecelia as an 'i', so Cecilia is a better way of spelling it, and, overall, it really looks better and more correct to me.

Someone, somewhere, presumably thought that Cecelia made a good, longer version of Celia ... it sets my teeth on edge. I like Cecily and Celia enough to use, but I find Cecilia too fancy in spite of Simon and Garfunkel, and I try not to perpetuate spelling mistakes if possible.

I don't know which I like the look of better but Cecilia / Cecelia is growing on me lately. I think it's very pretty and refined.
