I think it does have a boring/dated/staid vibe like Brenda or Debbie (imo) do, but there's something innately sunny about it, as well.
Plus there's a Nancy I love, and I like how medieval-minimalist Nan is, so I'm fond of it.

I like it very much. I'd use Nancy as a version of Anne.That said, the only Nancy I've ever met was not South African: she was British, named Nancy but she hated it and went by Nan. So there are no associations at all with it here, good or bad.

Nancy is a lovely, jolly name but it is my nan’s name and I associate it with her so much. I’m very close to her so it would be funny for me to meet a baby Nancy when I’m so used to saying Nanny Nancy!
