Thoughts on Viola?

I'm super surprised it isn't popular at all. It seems like the perfect combination of Violet and names such as Olivia, Lydia.

I love it as VY-o-la. Would you pronounce it that way? It just flows off the tongue like that. vee-O-la works in non-English speaking countries but in English I find it stressful to say and vy-O-la sounds odd to me.

I have one

It is my second daughters name so naturally I love it. We pronounce it Vy-o-la (apart from my grandfather who always says it Vy-la)

Her full name is Viola Faith and she is a beautiful 14 month old

I quite like Viola, though I can never settle on a satisfying pronunciation. I think I'm inclined to pronounce it "vee-OH-la."

I wonder if it's not more popular because the pronunciation can be so varied. I naturally say "vy-OH-la" but it feels like I'm trying to "be fancy" whenever I say it. It doesn't feel like an accessible name to me, like it's meant for a culture or class that I don't belong to.

I only like it as vee-O-luh. I find 'vee' so much more appealing. Really beautiful, and bright, plus it eliminates the 'vile' sound, and gives way to nns like Via or just V. Either way, I'm also surprised it's not more popular, although it's been in and out of the top 1000 where I live.

I say VY-o-la not VY-la so I don't get a "vile" sound but I guess some people say it differently because I say VY-o-let for Violet but I heard it as VY-let.

There isn't really a vile sound with Viola, even when I say it. I think it's just more there than the 'vee' one haha. I'm realising I might like 'vee' more because it separates the syllables more distinctly and I find that easier to say.
